Editor’s Letter from Dreams Travel Issue 2018
In today’s world, it seems almost impossible to take a vacation because we’re always plugged into a vast array of devices and forced to keep up with the fast pace in which the world moves. When one does find the time to breakaway and unplug, how do you choose where to go with the endless array of destinations and experiences available?
What are the criteria taken into consideration when making the choice of where to travel? For some, it’s pure relaxation and pampering. Others seek adventure and cultural experience to fulfill a sense of understanding other walks of life. And some just simply want to get as far away from home as possible.
In this Issue of DREAMS, we explore top resorts around the world. We have selected the ‘Best Places To’; a compilation of wellness retreats, cultural experiences, adventures, sanctuaries and five-star hotels. The locations range from secluded tropical islands to bustling cities, and everything in-between.
A favorite of mine is one of the world-renown Aman Hotel and Resort properties, Amanbagh, which sits in the arid Aravalli Hills in Rajasthan, India. This luxury sanctuary pays homage to India’s golden age with a surrounding countryside of ancient empire ruins; and provides amenities such as cultural excursions to nearby national parks and villages and wellness immersions that tap into historic Ayurvedic practices. Plus, the architecture that makes up the resort is simply stunning.
Closer to home, historic landmark hotels such as The Langham Huntington in Pasadena and Beverly Wilshire sitting at the cross of Wilshire and Rodeo Drive provide Angelenos with luxurious staycation options.
In Las Vegas, an exciting $620 million renovation of The Palms has fantasies being reimagined. The ultra-luxurious Sky Villas allow guests to bask in the opulence and grand views of the Strip, while the recently unveiled contemporary art program peaks even the most imaginative minds, bending perception and provoking curiosity.
Rounding out my 10th Issue with DREAMS – being that this is the Travel Issue – I want to remind you to unplug, explore and enjoy all that the world has to offer.
