The term “Dream Home” has different meaning to different people.
To a first-time home buyer, it can simply mean the transition from being a renter to finally owning a small house that begins one’s pursuit of the American Dream.
To a builder of tract homes, it can mean offering a slightly larger model with the addition of a few new technological bells and Smart Home whistles.
But when a pair of famous celebrity brothers, known for their expertise in home improvement and inspirational lifestyle ideas, announce they are bringing together the best designs, coolest new products and hottest new technologies they’ve seen and found in their travels – in an exciting new design and build program for custom luxury homes – it’s news.
With the recent announcement of “Dream Homes by Scott Living,” unlimited possibilities are suddenly envisioned, imaginations run free and expectations begin to soar.
There is little doubt, the term “Dream Home” is about to have new meaning.
The Property Brothers
Twin brothers, Drew and Jonathan Scott, are multi-talented entrepreneurs, authors and celebrity television personalities, best known as the “Property Brothers” for their long running top-rated HGTV series centered on the selling, purchasing and renovation of residential properties.
The success of their hit series also launched a number of popular spin-offs, such as Buying and Selling (2012), Brother vs. Brother (2013) and Property Brothers: At Home (2014) – to name but a few – as well as their latest, Property Brothers: Forever Home (2019), which helps families transform average homes into their dream “forever” homes.
Today, Scott Brothers TV shows are enjoyed by more than 18 million viewers a month in over 160 countries on five continents worldwide.
In addition to touring the globe and appearing live before hundreds of thousands annually, Drew and Jonathan are also the co-founders of Scott Brothers Global, a leading lifestyle and entertainment enterprise that includes the award-winning Scott Brothers Entertainment TV Production Company, the Scott Living Home Furnishings Collection and today, their latest project – Dream Homes by Scott Living – the pinnacle of their burgeoning luxury lifestyle brand.
A City Near To Our Hearts
The brothers will launch their Dream Homes by Scott Living program in Las Vegas, a city they call home and one that is near to their hearts. It also boasts many of the world’s most sought-after custom home communities.
“Not only is Vegas our home… but it’s a city where people dream big,” notes Jonathan. “The Las Vegas luxury home market has been performing very well with increasing demand for really beautiful, top tier real estate.”
“There are so many exciting factors at play,” he notes. “For one, it’s the ability to stretch one’s dollar further than in Los Angeles and New York City. It’s also partially due, I imagine, to the influx of professional athletes.”
Dream Homes by Scott Living are slated to debut in a number of upscale luxury communities all throughout Las Vegas – such as The Ridges, Ascaya, The Summit and Southern Highlands – with the first now underway and nearing completion in MacDonald Highlands.
Location, Location, Location
“Our community is really unique in its own right,” notes MacDonald Highlands Developer, Rich MacDonald. “It was the first fully amenitized hillside community in the valley… with both high-quality luxury homes and the famous Dragon Ridge Country Club as the social center point for our residents.”
“We have followed the Property Brothers careers for years,” he adds, “and we were excited when they chose our community as the site for their first custom home.”
Based on its extensive custom home building experience, Lawrence Homes & Development Corporation – also headquartered in Las Vegas – was selected as the exclusive builder for the first ever custom luxury Dream Home designed by the brothers.
“We are honored to be selected by Drew and Jonathan,” states CFO and Operating Partner, Tamir Saham. “We have worked closely with the brothers on many of their own past projects as demonstrated in the Property Brothers at Home and Brother vs. Brother HGTV television series.”
Rich MacDonald adds, “We are very pleased with the design and quality of the home they are building, and we believe… when people tour this home… they are sure to share our excitement and enthusiasm.”
Dream Home Number One
The initial home site, at 505 Dragon Gate Court, is located on an elevated .56-acre lot in the exclusive gated community of MacDonald Highlands situated with extraordinary views of the Las Vegas Strip just a few miles away.
The sleek tri-level modern home features 8,600 square feet of living space, five bedrooms, eight bathrooms, an elevator, a pool and spa, a wine cellar and the latest home automation and energy saving technologies all throughout.
“Designing a home is always a fun process,” notes Drew Scott. “Regardless of the price point, you want to ensure you balance the function and the aesthetic perfectly.”
“With this property we wanted to highlight an abundance of raw materials, like wood and stone, to represent the beauty of nature,” he continues. “We included as much glass as possible to take advantage of all the natural light we’re known for in Nevada… and lastly, to make it a space that, though massive, still feels warm and inviting… so it can grow with a family.”
“I even squeezed in some of my own personal preferences,” he adds, “like the massive master closet directly connected to the laundry room and a basketball court in the garage. It’s a spectacular home where no detail was missed.”
“We want to create a one of a kind Dream Home that checks EVERY box,” notes Drew.
Touring The Site
We were invited to visit the home while under construction and on a bright sunny day in early February we met with Operating Partner, Tamir Saham, for a tour of the site.
The home in Las Vegas’ MacDonald Highlands community immediately captures the essence of a dream home. The striking three-story modern design was well underway at this point.
Dug into a sloping hillside, Tamir states “We started carving out rock with a massive 12,000 psi hammer in March 2019.” One unique feature is that both the lot and home are accessible from both sides – the streets up above and down below.
The exterior is primarily gray-surfaced concrete with accents of natural wood and stone. The main entrance is a sleek black glass hi-tech door – with an electronically-controlled recessed handle – that pops out when a bio-metric fingerprint reader button is pushed. On either side, two massive steel I-Beams, placed on their sides, protrude a few feet out from the building. Numerous weep holes are drilled at the ends to allow running water to drain through for dramatic rainfall effect.
Even before entering, one gets the idea this is no ordinary home. Once through the third-floor entrance, you cross a bridge leading to the main living area that drops off on both sides to the second-floor open-air movie theater below. We later found that it seats 20 to 40 people and has a 150-inch recessed screen that comes down from the ceiling.
Once inside the 8,600 square foot residence, custom features and inspired design are everywhere one looks. In the main living area, a full wall of floor-to-ceiling glass doors completely fold away for an open-air panoramic view of the community and Las Vegas skyline in the distance. Overhead, a unique dropped ceiling effect leaves an open area around the room perimeter and all HVAC registers are placed above and out of sight.
Every room, regardless of purpose, is oversized, uniquely appointed and well thought out. Even the garages (yes there are two) bear brother designing. The main garage, accessible from the lower street, is two-stories tall, air conditioned and houses up to 10 cars. It also includes a repair-shop type automobile lift, a recreation area and is capable of being cleared to also serve as a basketball court (yep, Drew’s idea). A second two-car garage, accessible from the upper street, provides “service” access for the home.
We believe your home should make your life easier… and it should definitely make you smile every time you walk through the front door… statement finishes, unique touches and set-up for entertaining… whoever calls this home will be beaming from ear to ear.
Re-Defining Dream Home
“We believe your home should make your life easier… and it should definitely make you smile every time you walk through the front door,” says Jonathan. “Statement finishes, unique touches and set-up for entertaining… whoever calls this home will be beaming from ear to ear.”
One could go on and on, describing the incredible design features of this amazing dream home, but collectively it all brings to mind that one thing is certain.
When completed, the Scott Brothers and/or a new owner will approach the sleek black glass front door… place their finger on the pre-programmed bio-metric sensor in the center of a recessed strip… an LED-lit door handle will emerge… and they will enter the extraordinary luxury lifestyle vision of the brothers.
It will confirm that the term “Dream Home” does indeed have new meaning.
