Q: In the beginning what made you interested in real estate, and how did you get started?
MK: When I arrived from Lebanon at the age of 18 I was working at Ralph’s Grocery Store, and I met long time realtor broker Jim Dickson, who told me I should go into real estate, which I did with him. And the rest is history.
Q: What real estate trends are you seeing in La Cañada Flintridge and in the San Gabriel Valley as a whole?
MK: The biggest trend is foreign buyers from both Korea and China, as well as very wealthy Middle Eastern buyers. Some are seeking permanent homes here, others are buying homes for their children while attending college, and others just as a second home here in California.
Q: What do you feel are the personal and professional qualities that have enabled your success and built your reputation over the years?
MK: For me, personal involvement with each client means that I give the best. When it comes down to client service it’s meeting and exceeding the client’s expectations in personal service, knowledge, and expertise, and bringing them into the lifestyle that they’re seeking in the community. It’s not about just selling a home. It’s more than just the home and estate you own, it’s a state of mind. It is a network of other individuals who enjoy not only the finer things of their homes and estates, but also rare car collections, wines and cigars, private poker, and travel excursions. Some homes may require remodeling or expansion or another option other than purchasing or building a new home. So I view my role as being the full-service concierge to a client rather than just selling a single home.
Q: What’s on the horizon for Mike Kobeissi and Kobeissi Properties?
MK: First of all, Kobeissi Properties is a family owned business, and I’m proud to have both my wife Sandy and my son Mikey working with me to expand our services and clientele. Not only do we sell luxury estates, but also homes for families and younger people that want to live in this great area.
