The Art of Living in Luxury
Editor’s Letter from Dreams Real Estate Issue 2019
Over the last few years reading the DREAMS Real Estate issue, you’ve seen it all; from $250 million LA homes to high-rise penthouses in Hong Kong, we’ve showcased the ultimate estates and properties of the world’s 1%. This year, we stay true to our roots in the Real Estate and Home Design issue by exhibiting the stunning properties and homes available on the market.
We take you inside jaw-dropping homes from Southern California to New York, Las Vegas to the Mediterranean Sea and everywhere in-between. On the cover is 281 Bentley Circle in Bel-Air, an organic paradise listed by Branden and Rayni Williams that’s the pinnacle of sophistication and modern design, complete with the world’s finest appointments including a pool that’s playfully referred to as “the size of the Pacific Ocean”. Plus, you’ll visit one of the country’s premier master-planned communities, Summerlin, which lies on the western edge of Las Vegas under the soaring Red Rocks and features homes you must see to believe.
This year however, we decided to not only highlight homes and architecture, but also the design and décor that goes into making a luxury residence feel like home. We persuaded well-known interior designers to reveal their expert perspectives on projects in Malibu and Idaho, plus share their top tips for elevating your home’s interior and exterior. One design trend which peaked my own interest was the use of crystals and crystal energy to change the ambiance of your living and working spaces. Beautiful crystals now summon positive vibes in my home and office!
Speaking of design, I had the pleasure of meeting one of So Cal’s top high-end landscape designers Jesse Escalera, who together with his wife, Sarah, run JE Proscapes. We headed down to Santa Ana to photograph one of his out-of-this-world projects and learn about his humble beginnings as an artist. From having to support his family at only fourteen years old to designing awe-inspiring waterfalls, pools and hardscapes around the world, this is a story you can’t miss.
Debuting her first article in DREAMS as our Contributing Fashion Editor, Gayle Theodora Drake shares her top places to shop in Los Angeles if you’re hunting down a vintage piece or looking for a one-of-a-kind red-carpet gown. Her knowledge and advice will help you look your best, no matter the occasion. Join me on this excursion to see the top real estate and designs in the world.
