Cars & Culture: A Special Kind of Hybrid
Editor’s Letter from Dreams Auto Issue 2019
The other weekend while surrounded by close to 100 luxury, exotic and collector automobiles, I began thinking about how special the car culture is here in Southern California.
I mean, where else on earth can you find local events nearly every weekend where people of all ages and backgrounds bring some of the most treasured automobiles on the planet for all to cherish and enjoy? A prime example was that Saturday morning on the Colorado Street Bridge in Pasadena for Rusnak Auto Group’s Morning Octane, where I encountered cars such as the Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren, a Pagani Huayra, classic Porsches and more rare Ferraris than I could count.
The best part? The owners of these rare vehicles were out talking to and taking pictures with all the spectators. You see, cars bring people together in a way that’s unmatched by most other hobbies and sports.
In this year’s Summer Auto Issue, I’m proud to present the autos and people who have built and shaped this special culture into what it’s become today. We take you for a ride in the hottest luxury cars available (or soon to be) on the market, from the all-electric Porsche Taycan and Audi e-tron to special edition Bentleys and Rolls-Royces, and everything in between. Not only do we showcase these exceptional automobiles, but we take you inside the cabins to preview the latest features and innovations found in the interiors.
Go on a sixty-year journey and witness the rise of Rusnak Auto Group, the premier luxury auto dealerships in Southern California, which was built from scratch by an entrepreneur with an incredible mix of vision, grit and determination. Then, we take you to a collection of rare Ferraris and supercars, plus visit a classic automobile collection of over 150 cars that preserves these treasures for generations to come.
Cars aren’t the only way to get around, and in this issue, we also showcase yachts, jets, motorcycles, and toys favorited by seekers of adventure. And if you enjoy private jets and wine, we have a story on page 77 you won’t want to miss. I recently had the chance to experience this combination myself and it’s extraordinary, to say the least.
This issue of DREAMS shares every detail of the masterpiece machines and stories of the people that shape the current landscape of transportation and mobility, while looking forward to a future that promises to redefine what we know to be possible in the realm of luxury transit. Hop in and let’s go for a ride.
