As Told By Peter G. Kudrave, AIA, NCARB
Each summer, you’ve done Hollywood Bowl, toured classics of far off lands, ending the season with a family block pool party. You were ready for something fresh.
Early March, I was at one of Mike Kobeissi’s Cars and Coffees. Expecting a positive response, I asked if he would consider holding an event with the Ferrari Club at his home. The proposal took but a few moments to gel, agreeing we would each do our complimentary parts.
I had heard of Mike and Sandy to be very generous, previously hosting USC Keck Hospital’s “Mingle Under the Moon”, YMCA of the Foothills Gala, American Cancer Society’s Gala, etc. with wide community appeal and acceptance. We were pleased FCA had just secured a wonderful partner for the Mid-Summer Day of Pleasure event to take place July 27, 2019. Our task was to tastefully blend classic art, great music, knitted together with fine cars.
On the day of the event, following guided tours at Norton Simon Museum and with great assistance from Pasadena Police, we wound our way through hundred-year-old oaks for an excellent Piano Recital in La Cañada performed by Akina Motoyama and husband Benjamin. On our final arrival at Kobeissi’s residence, we received a Queen’s welcome. One hundred members attended with 28 of Kobeissi’s friends joining for a great afternoon lunch.
