Lonni Paul shares her vision for this Gozzer Ranch summer home
This project is a summer home for a family of three from Los Angeles. They wanted a place to spend their summers together enjoying family time with their 11 year old son. Needing a place close enough to Los Angeles to get to and from work, Gozzer Ranch on Lake Coeur d’Alene was the perfect fit. Gozzer Ranch provides an exceptional summer holiday experience filled with boating, swimming, family dinners at home or the clubhouse, social events, sports and a gym. What more could you ask for? This is a summer camp where the parents get to join in!
The clients have refined taste and wanted the same level of luxury and comfort in this house that they enjoy in their primary home, but with a budget in mind. With 5,000 square feet, 6 bedrooms and 6.5 bathrooms it was a balancing act to find a happy medium. The outdoor setting was a significant inspiration for my casual luxury design. I incorporated the views by installing a back wall of sliding windows, which open to provide indoor/outdoor living. Their love of animal print fabric, hide rugs and the color blue came together to define the interior scheme. The sofas are covered in white performance fabric so the family can enjoy a light and airy feel without worrying about upkeep. The bar, central to entertaining, was custom made and finished with a vibrant blue high-gloss autobody paint. The back deck which spans the length of the house is just as much a part of the living experience as the interiors. It boasts a living room, dining area with a grill and pizza oven, stainless steel hot tub and fire pit. There are plenty of guest rooms to accommodate the couple’s family and friends including a full service suite above the garage.
Their 11 year old son was very involved with the design of his room. He loved pouring over the inspiration boards and telling me what he liked and wanted for his room. It was a lot of fun having his input! The home is equally beautiful in the winter when the mountains and trees are covered with snow. The family spent their first Thanksgiving in the house last November, creating lasting memories in their home away from home.
