The 2018 Miss India North America pageant was hosted in Los Angeles in August supporting Jagriti, a non-profit organization that deals with domestic violence victims and issues in the South Asian community. Pasadena resident Vinita Khilnani took top honors.
“I feel proud that I won the pageant representing my Indian heritage and I hope to encourage young women to participate because it will give them confidence and help them better themselves,” she said.
Born and raised by an Indian father and Singaporean mother, Khilnani has earned two Master’s degrees in Biology at Cal State LA and Public Health at USC. She is also President of The Cottage Guild, a group of women who volunteer their time, skills and efforts to help the teenage Foster girls of Rosemary Children’s Services.
